Book Release & Speaking Tour Postponed, New Podcast Slated for May 7 Launch

While the release and following book tour of David Sheff’s The Buddhist on Death Row has now been postponed until August 4, a new iHeartRadio original podcast, "Dear Governor," —about Jarvis Masters’ legal case —is still slated for an early May launch.

The premiere episode will go live on May 7, 2020 with 8 subsequent episodes airing every Thursday. Guests include legal scholars, trial lawyers, and a former San Quentin warden. “Dear Governor” documents the incongruities of Jarvis’ case, exploring the suppression of information, witness recantations, and destruction of evidence. Says Donna Fazzari, one of the podcast’s executive producers, “It is astonishing how dysfunctional, racist and arbitrary our criminal justice system is when it comes to sentencing men and women to death. There is a reason that three major motion pictures came out this last year about wrongful convictions of the condemned.”
