Jarvis and Oprah Winfrey Interview Out Now
As part of Oprah’s Book Club Chat, Jarvis Jay Masters discussed writing and the simple pleasures we take for granted outside prison walls.
The conversation with Oprah also covered Jarvis’ childhood, trauma, and the nature of freedom. It was conducted over the GTL prison phone line and aired on OprahDaily as part of programming for Jarvis’ memoir “That Bird Has My Wings” as the 97th selection for her Book Club. The audio recording and its poignant montage ended with Oprah saying “it’s been my great privilege, honor, joy, to finally connect with” Jarvis.
Earlier in the week, OprahDaily also published an essay from Jarvis on the power and freedom found in writing.
UPDATES: A longer, in-depth, 47-minute version of the Oprah interview has now aired on the Oprah Super Soul podcast here. “That Bird Has My Wings” is also now available as an audiobook, narrated by Korey Jackson.
