Jarvis' Federal Appeal Brief Filed Today
It has now been a year since the California Supreme Court denied Jarvis Jay Masters' state appeal. Since then, the merits of Jarvis' case has drawn the attention of the distinguished global law firm Kirkland & Ellis LLP, which has now taken on Jarvis' case pro bono. Today, his legal team is required by law to submit a federal appeal brief that will begin the process of a more substantial federal appeal. While this briefing isn't expected to change Jarvis' situation, it will lay out the relevant issues that will be forthcoming to the federal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Jarvis writes: "For sure, it is difficult for me to wait for this and other steps before the outcome of my appeal is decided but I want to express my deep gratitude to Dr. Larry Marshall and the rest of my team at Kirkland for working on this appeal brief day and night. Despite the extra hardships the pandemic has caused all year, my team has been relentless. I am blessed to have this special, talented team that believes in me and who will always go the extra mile in their pursuit of truth and justice. I also want to thank everyone for all their care and support as I get closer to my eventual freedom."
Updates on Jarvis' legal case will continue to be posted as they become available.
