TAKE ACTION NOW: Restore Full GTL Phone Access at San Quentin

URGENT ACTION REQUEST:

Since September 18, 2020, Jarvis Jay Masters has been on an indefinite hunger strike to raise awareness of a new wave of phone restrictions at San Quentin State Prison. Normally, residents on Death Row's East Block are allowed access of up to 3.5 hours of GTL state phone usage every day of the week. The current policies only allow up to 2 hours of phone access total per week. Jarvis says these new rules exacerbate the suffering brought on by the pandemic for the incarcerated and their loved ones.

Prisons officials have not provided clear justifications for placing these extreme limits on communication to the outside world. Sgt. Robert Gardea, Assistant to the Warden, stated that they "anticipate returning to a much more relaxed and accommodating telephone program within a week or so [by September 25, 2020]"--but conditions have NOT since improved.

TAKE ACTION NOW.

Friends and supporters are asked to contact the following officials to request the easing of restrictions and reinstatement of GTL state phone access to normal, full scheduling capacity for all residents of San Quentin State Prison.
